Porsche Design Glasses

Porsche Design is a brand that has been synonymous with quality and luxury since it was originally part of the Porsche car company, only separating in 1972. Then named Porsche Design Studio it was first established in Stuttgart Germany, by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who founded Porsche and designed the iconic Porsche 911. In 1974 the Porsche Design Studio relocated to Zell am See in the Austrian Tyrol, no doubt to take advantage of the beautiful town and to enjoy the skiing there in the winter.

Under the name “Porsche Boutique”, Porsche had been producing car related products since the 1950’s. Products such as T-shirts, calendars, purses, luggage series, model cars and buttons. In the following decades numerous classic accessories such as writing utensils (pens), watches sunglasses and spectacle frames were created and marketed around the world. Porsche Design is now based in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

Porsche design sunglasses have become a must have fashion accessory and are worn by a host of celebrities and fashionistas. Indeed their very first sunglass design, the Porsche 8478 has become an iconic accessory worn by the likes of Usher Raymond, Gigi Hadid and Jenner Kardashian, however their classic design could be found decades earlier on Roger Moore in a James Bond movie, and Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop.

Today the Porsche Design P8478 sunglass is available in large range of colours and sizes including Light Gold, Titanium, Grey Matt, Black, Titanium black, White and Yellow Gold/White. You can get interchangeable non prescription sunglass lenses for this model in Brown, Green, Grey/Blue, Mercury Silver mirrored, Grey gradient Silver mirrored, Olive/Silver mirrored, Dark Orange/Silver mirrored, Light Blue Silver mirrored, Pink gradient and Blue gradient.

The Porsche Design P8478 sunglasses are available at Personal Eyes Optometry in George Street Sydney but please keep in mind that with such a large variety of choices it is often necessary to order from Germany and can take a week or so if you are specific about your choice.

In addition to their sunglasses Porsche Design also have a range of high quality prescription frames, some of which are made in Titanium. Their German engineering heritage is reflected in the design and finish of these beautifully crafted frames, with the finishing touches that you would associate with their famous car manufacturer. Torque screws are used in the rim and hinge joints for strength and to maintain symmetry whilst the nose pads are made from medical grade silicone for maximum comfort.

Here at Personal Eyes Optometry in the heart of the Sydney CBD we have been a Porsche Design glasses dealer for over 12 years.
